Food & mood

Students explore the connections between food, mood, learning and concentration in this incursion.

The incursion involves an information session to discuss the scientific links between food, mood and brain health followed by a practical session where students apply skills to make healthy food choice in their own lives.

This program is designed for Year 7 - 10 but can be modified to fit the VCE curriculum.

What's included:

  • 1 hour incursion designed by qualified Teacher & Nutritionist 

  • Real food items , menus and case studies for students to explore

  • Handouts for teachers & families

  • Follow up activities for students

  • Links to the Victorian Curriculum

VCE Major nutrient functions & food sources

Key functions and food sources of major nutrients important for adolescent health and wellbeing. Consequences of nutritional imbalance on health and wellbeing.

Area of Study 2

This incursion involves an information session that covers the area of study plus a practical session for students to apply what they have learned to real life case studies. 

 

What's included:

  • 80 minute incursion designed by qualified Teacher & Nutritionist

  • Real food items , menus and case studies for students to investigate

  • Handouts for teachers & families

  • Follow up activities for students

  • Links to the Victorian Curriculum

VCE food marketing & food selection models

Tactics used in marketing foods and promoting food trends to youth. Food selection models and tools used to promote healthy eating among youth. 

Area of Study 2

This incursion involves an information session that covers the area of study plus a practical session for students to apply what they have learned to real life case studies. 

 

What's included:

  • 60 minute incursion designed by qualified Teacher & Nutritionist

  • Real food items, menus and case studies for students to investigate

  • Handouts for teachers & families

  • Follow up activities for students

  • Links to the Victorian Curriculum
