Food Talks Nutrition

Sophie Butcher is a qualified Nutritionist (BHSc, ANTA registered), Primary School Teacher (VIT registered) and Mother of two daughters who is passionate about healthy eating and nutrition, health and science education.

Her interest in healthy eating has developed after years of working as a Nutritionist in the community, a Teacher in primary schools and Manager in the health industry. During this time, Sophie became aware that there is a lot of confusion about nutrition and what it means to be 'healthy' in the community.

Sophie began Food Talks Nutrition Services to provide the community with quality education about nutrition based on real-life experiences with food and to develop an understanding of the science that underpins healthy eating in a fun and memorable way.

Why Food Talks

There are so many confusing messages about which foods are 'healthy' and best for our bodies and minds. Food Talks Nutrition Services helps to make healthy food choice simple. We provide you with the knowledge and skills to understand the Australian Dietary Guidelines and recommended nutrients consumed by eating a variety of fresh, natural and whole foods each day.

Healthy body & mind

There is a growing need to improve understanding about healthy food choice and to prevent the further rise of diet-related disease and mental health conditions in the Australian community. Nutrition education is an effective way to empower people to make more healthy food choice that can help reduce the incidence of conditions such as anxiety, depression, type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart disease, osteoporosis and some cancers.

Food is fun

Food Talks Nutrition Services makes learning about nutrition, health and science fun. We provide information in bite size pieces that are easy to digest and understand. Game-based activities, stories and play make our incursions interactive and engaging.

Food Talks Nutrition supports the Healthy Together Achievement Program to work towards Healthy Eating Benchmarks.
